Message the paint. For example when spraying a door jamb, a vertical spray pattern gets overlapped by a horizontal pattern. It may be slight, but the additional paint applied can result in a variation in color. Hopefully, the shop will be careful to be as consistent as possible given the challenges of the painting the parts independently.

Another reason I assemble the components first is to ensure proper fit (w/o messing up my fresh paint). After this, the rubber seals can be removed to spray everything in either one or two steps. The biggest challenge in spraying jambs an the exterior at the same time is the generation of dust. Fortunately, base coat/ clear coat systems are very forgiving.

After the doors, hood, fenders, and hatch are installed, just make sure the paint looks uniform, especially on the sides of the car....before you pay them and wheel it out of the shop. Besides that, it looks good so far.
